Clinical Commissioning Groups
Clinical Commissioning Grous (CCGs) are groups of GP practices that decide how the NHS money is used in a way that means their local population is as healthy as possible and receives high quality care when they need it.
They use their understanding of their own patients, and their relationships with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, to buy (‘commission’) the services that best meet their patients’ needs.
CCGs operate by commissioning a variety of healthcare services including:
- Elective hospital care
- Rehabilitation care
- Urgent and emergency care
- Most community health services
- Mental health and learning disability services
There are three CCGs across Warwickshire and Coventry:
