Ensuring providers are meeting their contractual requirements is vital in order to guarantee high levels of patient safety and satisfaction. In Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire, the monitoring of contracts is undertaken by the Contract Monitoring Team, who are part of the Local Authority
Contract Monitoring Team
The role of the Contract Monitoring Team is to ensure that customers using social care & health contracted services receive high quality services ensuring contract compliance in relation to the contract awarded by the Local Authority.
They have a statutory duty to measure, monitor and intervene if the quality of services does not meet the needs of customers. Any concerns that indicate abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults or poor care standards are followed up by the contract monitoring team.
Joint responsibilities on both health and social care mean that we work more closely to assure quality across a wide range of services including care and nursing homes. Through monitoring the standard of care provided in care and nursing homes and by working in partnership with Owners, Managers and staff they are able to improve standards and quality of care delivered to residents.
As well as working closely with health colleagues, following a successful pilot we have implemented a Peer Reviewer programme where ‘experts by experience’ carers and former customers, will complement the work of the Contract Monitoring Team by visiting homes and speaking first hand to residents, carers and staff about their experiences of accessing services.
